10 Festive Photos From the Harlem Holiday Lights Parade and Lights on the Plaza at Manhattanville
The two annual events brought a healthy dash of sparkle uptown for the holiday season.
Late November signals the start of some serious spirit uptown with holiday lightings in Harlem, Manhattanville, and more tree lightings and decor across the city.
Kicking off the season were two annual traditions: The Lights on the Plaza on Columbia's Manhattanville campus and the 29th annual Harlem Holiday Lights Parade. Take a look below at some of the festive snapshots of all the fun.
And make sure you check out even more lights uptown this holiday season, including the Central Park Meer Holiday Lighting on Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. and the Morningside Park Winter Celebration on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.
Lights on the Plaza at the Manhattanville Campus — Nov. 15
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, Columbia kicked off the season with "Lights on the Plaza," featuring fellowship as well as hot cocoa and treats from Pabade Bakery, and welcomed community members to see the twinkle lights turn on in the plaza between Lenfest Center for the Arts and the Jerome L. Greene Science Center.

Harlem Holiday Lights Parade — Nov. 22
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the 29th annual Harlem Holiday Lights Parade returned to 125th Street to usher in the holiday spirit with floats and the lighting of street decor along the parade route. This year's grand marshals were Harlem's own rapper/producer Doug E. Fresh and celebrity chef/restaurateur Melba Wilson.
Columbia sponsored a float in the parade and had a joyous time. The event was coordinated by the 125th Street Business Improvement District, in partnership with Manhattan Community Boards 9 and 10, as well as Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association.
