NMIC Launches COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline for Seniors in Upper Manhattan & South Bronx

March 02, 2021

For more than 40 years, Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) has provided critical immigration, housing, health, and education services to the local community. On February 22, NMIC launched an initiative for senior citizens residing in Upper Manhattan and the South Bronx that are having trouble scheduling vaccine appointments.

Seniors who are homebound or unable to navigate the online scheduling system can call the NMIC COVID-19 Vaccination Scheduling Hotline at 646-838-0319, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:45 PMCallers will be able to speak with a community healthcare worker, in English or Spanish, to help them schedule an appointment to receive the life-saving vaccine. For this initial phase, NMIC is serving senior citizens 65 and older who reside in eligible zip codes. (see below*)

"Our community has been disproportionately affected by the negative health and financial impacts of the pandemic. Our community is strong, and NMIC is here as a conduit to ensure that there is equitable access to the vaccine and all of the other resources they'll need to thrive," said Maria Lizardo, NMIC Executive Director.

Seniors that contact the hotline will have access to specially reserved appointments. This initiative is made possible through an arrangement with New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Washington Heights Armory vaccination site

* Please note that appointments are based on vaccine availability. Senior Citizens in the following zip codes are eligible to use the service: 10026, 10027, 10029, 10030, 10031, 10032, 10033, 10034, 10035, 10037, 10039, 10040, 10451, 10452, 10453, 10454, 10455, 10456, 10459, 10460, 10461, 10462, 10463, 10464, 10465, 10472, 10473, and 10474.
