Construction Update: Weeks of 9/7/20 and 9/14/20

What is Happening

Columbia Business School

Site 7 (Western Site)

• Completion of exterior wall glass-fiber reinforced concrete unit installations are ongoing on levels 4 through 11
• Exterior wall glass installation is ongoing on level 1, north and south facades
• Riser ductwork and pipe installation is ongoing
• Roof ductwork re-routing/support steel
• Interior fit-outs and overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation is ongoing on levels 1 through 11
• Finishes program is in progress on levels 3 through 7
• Elevator work on platforms, counterweights at north and south banks are ongoing

Site 6B (Eastern Site)

• Completion of exterior wall glass-fiber reinforced concrete unit installations are ongoing on levels 2 through 8
• Exterior wall glass installation is ongoing on level 1, north and south facades
• Fin tube radiator installation on the west façade
• Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system work under the Forum space is ongoing
• Smoke baffle installation along the network stairs 
• Elevator work on platforms and counterweights for south cars, and rail stacking in north bank
• Roof perimeter guardrail installation
• Interior fit-outs and overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation is ongoing on levels 2 through 8
• Riser ductwork and pipe installation is ongoing

Below Grade Activity / W. 131st Street Utilities

• Installation of storm, sanitary piping, electrical conduits, low voltage and HVAC ductwork is ongoing
• Buildout work including metal panel installation of the loading dock is progressing
• Wall framing and sheetrock work are ongoing throughout
• Waterproofing of the sump pits is ongoing

Open Spaces between 130th and 131st Streets and along 12th Avenue

• Inner and outer ring formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placement is ongoing
• Perimeter trench drain development
• Electrical sleeve installation

W. 125th Street South Side Demolition

• Demolition of the warehouse at 614 W. 125th Street is ongoing. Demolition started with interior partitions from west side of the warehouse heading east. Once hand demolition is complete, the remainder of the warehouse will be demolished by mechanical means.

What to Expect

Construction Activity

• Regular weekday work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After-hours permit issued for 6:00 a.m. construction start to allow for physical distancing for workers upon entry to the site.
• Material deliveries to site is ongoing

Temporary Traffic and Transportation Impacts

• Refer to street signage for the west side of Broadway from 129th to 130th Streets -- parking is allowed after 6:00 p.m. and on weekends

• W. 131st Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue is open for one-way westbound traffic
