What is Happening

Columbia Business School

Site 7 (Western Site)

  • Completion of exterior wall glass-fiber reinforced concrete unit installations on floors 4 through 11
  • Interior fit-outs and overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation on floors 1 through 11
  • Elevator work—three construction use cars are in service

Site 6B (Eastern Site)

  • Completion of exterior wall glass-fiber reinforced concrete unit installations on floors 2 through 8
  • Interior fit-outs and overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation on floors 2 through 8
  • Elevator work—three construction use cars are in service

Below Grade Activity / W. 131st Street Utilities

  • Installation of storm, sanitary piping, electrical conduits, low voltage and HVAC ductwork is ongoing
  • Buildout work of the loading dock and installation of dock levelers
  • Metal panel comeback work is progressing
  • Spackling and painting walls throughout
  • The truck ramp ceiling is substantially complete
  • Installation of the permanent sump/ejector pumps’ control panels and overhead piping

Open Spaces between 130th and 131st Streets and along 12th Avenue

  • Stone installation of inner and outer ring
  • 12th Avenue formwork and reinforcement
  • Perimeter trench drain formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placement
  • Structural backfill is in progress
  • Electrical and low voltage conduit installation
  • Light pole pier formwork and rebar installation 

Con Edison Vault Exploratory Test Pit Work at 125th Street

  • Con Edison vault exploratory test pit work on the south side of W. 125th Street at Broadway will commence on Tuesday, March 16 and is anticipated to be complete on Friday, March 19
  • Excavation will take place on the W. 125th Street sidewalk that is east of Prentis Hall.  Sidewalk traffic is being redirected to an alternate pathway around the work site fence. 

 

 

Please note that all activities are subject to change based on weather and other field conditions.

 

What to Expect

Construction Activity

  • Regular weekday work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After-hours permit issued for 6:00 a.m. construction start to allow for physical distancing for workers upon entry to the site.
  • Material deliveries to site is ongoing

Temporary Traffic and Transportation Impacts

  • Refer to street signage for the west side of Broadway from 129th to 130th Streets -- parking is allowed after 6:00 p.m. and on weekends
  • W. 131st Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue is open for one-way westbound traffic
