What is Happening

Columbia Business School

Site 7 (Western Site)

  • Interior fit-outs (walls, glass partitions, ceilings, flooring, millwork, glass-fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) unit installations) and overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installation on floors 1 through 11
  • Interior finishes and punchlist ongoing
  • A/V work in classrooms
  • Fire alarm and MEP commissioning
  • Delivery and installation of furniture

Site 6B (Eastern Site)

  • Completion of the exterior wall.  Cleaning and punchlist work ongoing.
  • Interior finishes
  • A/V work in classrooms
  • Fire alarm and MEP commissioning near complete
  • Delivery and installation of furniture

Below Grade Activity / W. 131st Street Utilities

  • Buildout work of the loading dock is progressing
  • The truck ramp ceiling is being spackled and taped
  • Painting is ongoing throughout

Open Spaces between 130th and 131st Streets and along 12th Avenue

  • Continuation of living roof layer
  • Installation of electrical conduit, cobblestone, and trench drain
  • Hanover pavers/hardscape is ongoing
  • Installation of water feature, furnishings, drinking fountains, and other fixtures
  • Sidewalk, street lights, and street work
  • Testing of systems is underway

600 W. 125th Street

  • Drilling and installation of secant piles and rigid inclusions piles for the support of excavation
  • Test pit work at the south perimeter
  • Soil removal from construction site
  • Pile installation for Con Ed vaults
  • Excavation and timber lagging installation on the north side of the property


Please note that all activities are subject to change based on weather and other field conditions.


What to Expect

Construction Activity

  • Regular weekday work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After-hours permit issued for 6:00 a.m. construction start to allow for physical distancing for workers upon entry to the site.  After-hours permit issued for 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for exterior wall installation to be performed at the Business School buildings.
  • Material deliveries to site is ongoing

Temporary Traffic and Transportation Impacts

  • Refer to street signage for the west side of Broadway from 129th to 130th Streets -- parking is allowed after 6:00 p.m. and on weekends
  • W. 131st Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue is open for one-way westbound traffic
  • The parking lane will be closed on the south side of W. 125th Street from Broadway to St. Clair Place.  Parking will not be available on the south side of W. 125th Street from Broadway to the mid-block in front of the entire length of the 600 W. 125th Street construction fence.
