Celebrate Black History at George Bruce Library and NYPL

Make the most of New York Public Library's many resources to explore history, get your taxes prepared for free, and more.

Don't stress over your taxes this year! Get free tax help from a variety of New York Public Library (NYPL) locations, including George Bruce Library on 125th Street. You can also use library resources to learn about tenant assistance you might be eligible for and make sure your voter registration is up to date.

And don't forget to explore the NYPL's Black History Month collections, including a special tour that features Black creators and activists reclaiming and establishing space in various fields and illustrates evolving representations of Black identity around the world.

Upcoming Events

Free tax assistance is available on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Open play time for children under 3 in the children's room is available from Monday to Saturday! Check the hours available every day

Computer basics lessons for adults are back. Sign up in person or by calling 212-662-9727 to register for the one-on-one sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 12:15 pm, or for the open lab hour on Fridays at 2:00 pm.

— Planning to learn a new skill this year? Crochet & Chat in-person on February 11 at 2:00 pm, and virtually on February 8 at 2:00 pm.

— Enjoy Family Storytime on Tuesdays at 12:30 pm.

Game on! Kids ages 5 and up can play with Legos and board games on Tuesdays at 4:00 pm and video games on Wednesdays at 4:00 pm.

College prep: ask questions about college, work on your applications, learn about schools, and more at College and Career Pathways on February 23 at 3:00 pm.

Practice your English with the English Conversation Group on February 14 and February 28 at 4:00 pm.

Job search: level up in your job search with skills from Job Application Fundamentals on February 15 at 2:00 pm.
