In The Libraries: November at George Bruce

The New York Public Library is a great resource to New Yorkers, with virtual events, book recommendations, and free online services. To heighten awareness of their fantastic offerings, Columbia Neighbors is partnering with the George Bruce Library on 125th Street to provide regular updates from the library staff.

Since the October update, the library has introduced some new services, and there are also targeted events for teenagers coming up this month.

Available Library Services
  • The New York Public Library now offers a personalized book selection service through Shelf Help. Patrons can request and five books hand-picked for them based on their reading preferences.
  • NYPL After School provides activities and resources for kids from kindergarten through middle grades.
  • Students who are looking for college guidance, career readiness, or adults skills can get help from the New York Public Library‘s College and Career Pathways.
  • NYPL provides 24/7 access to digital resources.
Upcoming Events at George Bruce Library
  • Children's Online Open Book Discussion: On Monday, November 16, join staff at George Bruce for an open book discussion of FALL themed Books that you have read and want to share with us.
  • Help with Library Resources for Teens: On Tuesday, November 17, there will be live opportunities for students using NYPL resources for homework help to speak to librarians.
  • YA Mystery Book Discussion: On Thursday, November 19, join librarians at 4pm for an open book discussion. Share your best, suspense, thriller, and mystery titles! For ages 13-18.
