Give Back this Fall: Volunteer with a Columbia Community Service Agency

September 19, 2016

Columbia Community Service (CCS) seeks to inspire the faculty, staff, and retirees of Columbia, Barnard, and Teachers College to help address the needs of underserved individuals residing in the neighborhoods surrounding the University. With funds raised through its annual campaign, CCS makes grants to local nonprofit organizations focused on education, food and emergency services, eldercare, the arts, and the environment and parks. Columbia faculty, students and staff can also contribute their time by volunteering with one of these great organizations.

The Family Annex

The Family Annex, a Columbia University affiliated preschool, is currently seeking either volunteers in the area of child care, or occasional substitutes who will be hired on an as needed basis to work with teachers in the classrooms. The children are between 1.9 years of age and 4. They are an 11 month program that is open to Columbia and neighborhood families. They are immersed in the Reggio Emilia philosophy for learning.
