The NYC Department of Transportation and NYC Economic Development Corporation are working together to provide free access to bikes for frontline workers in New York City.  Local bike rental shops have offered their fleets of bikes for loan or low-cost rental to support this new initiative.

Organizations interested in offering this benefit to their employees should email bikes@edc.nyc with the number of donated bikes they are interested in acquiring for their staff, staff heights (for best bike match) and indicate whether they are interested in bikes for loan or low-cost rental. They are also providing free helmets, whether paired with a bike or for use with those that already have a bike.

Hospitals or employees within the current Citi Bike zones are also encouraged to take advantage of the Citi Bike Critical Workforce Membership Program, providing the first responder, healthcare, and transit workforce with a free month of Citi Bike membership. Employers should email herobikes@lyft.com to obtain enrollment information for their staff on the Citi Bike program.
