Welcome Today and Every Day

Head to the Manhattanville campus on June 27, 2026, for a free, fun-filled celebration of community! Immerse yourself in the arts through youth programming, indulge in Uptown cuisine with local vendors, have fun with science activities, plus so much more.

We invite our neighbors surrounding Columbia's campuses in Morningside Heights, West Harlem, Harlem, and Washington Heights, as well as Columbia affiliates, to partake in this day of celebration. 

Community Day Entrance: The Lee C. Bollinger Forum

125th St. and Broadway

At the Bollinger Forum, volunteers will be at the ready for any questions, along with community tables sharing programs, resources, and free goodies. Light refreshments will be served.

11:00 AM: Cartographies in Thread: A Community Sewing Circle

Join Zuckerman Institute for a free needlepoint workshop with 2026 Artist in the Education Lab Maya Ciarrocchi, where you’ll transform a meaningful place—a childhood home, a migration path, or a favorite landscape—into a unique 4" x 4" abstract textile map. Register here.

Food Samplings and Restaurant Crawl

Columbia Business School | 614 W 131st St.

Food samples from alumni of the Harlem Local Vendor Program will be available during Community Day from vendors such as Chatman J Cakes, Chef Marshall LLC, D’Maritza Cake, Kinkeliba Ginger Tea, Mercedes Waffles & More, Pabade Bakery, Sugar Hill Creamery, Tres Leches Cafe, and more, starting at 12:00 PM.

The Business School will also host a table for its Behavioral Research Lab, where you can learn more about what they do.

The Forum | 125th St. and Broadway

Fauzia’s Heavenly Delights, a Harlem Local Vendor Program alum, will serve dishes in the Forum Cafe area from 12:00 PM onward.

Make the Wallach Art Gallery part of your Manhattanville Community Day experience and be one of the first to see the exhibition, Children’s Art Carnival in Harlem: The Making of Contemporary Artists, on view starting June 26 through September 13.

Lenfest Center for the Arts Small Square 

Calling all kids! Make yourself the star of your summer story by crafting your own paper puppet inspired by YOU! All materials are provided. 

12:30-1:30 PM: Wallach Kids | A Closer Look with Artist Tomo Mori

Learn more about artist Tomo Mori’s artistic practice during this artist demonstration with handling materials. 

2-3:00 PM: Wallach Talks | Perspectives on the Children’s Art Carnival in Harlem: The Making of Contemporary Artists

Join us for the newest edition of Wallach Talks, where we present a range of creative voices in response to Wallach Gallery exhibitions. Today’s speakers will share informal reflections on their experiences past and present with the Children’s Art Carnival in Harlem. Featuring artists Michael A. Cummings and Tomo Mori; Michael Unthank, co-chair of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Art Carnival; and Souleo, curator of Children's Art Carnival in Harlem: The Making of Contemporary Artists

Art in the Park invites you to celebrate the vision of the participants of our Smartphone-tography workshop. This exhibition highlights the incredible artistry that emerges when community members are empowered with the right creative skills.

12-3:00 PM: Saturday Science

Columbia’s Zuckerman Institute invites you to come explore the workings of the brain at Saturday Science, a free monthly event for kids of all ages. We’ll have fun, hands-on activities in the Education Lab and the BioBus mobile lab parked on 129th Street. Register here.
