Since 1989, the Harlem Educational Activities Fund, Inc. (HEAF), has created pathways to college and the professional world for nearly 600 New York City students from low-income backgrounds each year, by providing resources that help them achieve higher education, fulfilling careers, and greater lifetime earnings.  Since that time, they have expanded their reach among the "forgotten middle" to include students attending over 100 public schools across the city, including Harlem and Washington Heights, and have developed a second site in Brooklyn.
