Kenneth Reams was on death row for over 25 years. While he and his legal team pursued a federal habeas petition to overturn his conviction, Mr. Reams turned to art as one way to tell his story and the story of mass incarceration in America.

The conference will include a panel on parole, pardons and clemency; and system-impacted artists speaking about the role of art in their lives, including a musical performance.

This event is sponsored by the The Eric H. Holder Jr. Initiative for Civil and Political Rights; The SOF/Heyman at Columbia University; the Columbia Center for Contemporary Critical Thought; and the Justice-in-Education Initiative.
