This Research Speaker Series will feature Rebecca O. Shasanmi Ellis, PhD, MPH, RN, an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University’s School of Nursing. The title of her talk is forthcoming. 

Rebecca Shasanmi Ellis, PhD, MPH, RN’s health services research has two threads: bioethics and health disparities. Her long-term research aim is to explore the intersections of health workforce/systems development, mental health, and structural determinants to alleviate health disparities in underserved and developing communities globally. 

In November 2025, Dr Ellis was selected as a distinguished fellow into the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing for her sustained programming in advancing anti-racism in public health nursing. 

Dr. Ellis is PI on a grant in partnership with Muliro University in Kenya that provides GUBSON students a global virtual exchange opportunity, while completing rural public health nursing experience in rural Eastern Shore, MD. She is also a research collaborating consultant at the Center for Patient Safety at the University of Sao Paulo College of Nursing, Ribeirão Preto since 2014.
