On Wednesday, September 4, registration opens to take part in Community Lantern Building Workshops for Morningside Lights 2024!
Participants come together ahead of the Morningside Lights illuminated procession on the stage of Miller Theatre to build dozens of handmade large-scale lanterns, step by step, layer by layer. Discover the steps of the process and sign up for email updates at Morningside Light's website.
This year's Morningside Light theme is "In Retrospect: 100 Years of New York Art," a shared celebration of a century of the New York art and artists that have shaped our vision of the city, or inspired us to evolve, learn, and move forward. Presented in collaboration with the Friends of Morningside Park, each of the 50+ community-built lanterns will pay tribute to 100 years of art through an illuminated retrospective of New York’s rich and radical visual culture. Morningside Lights 2024 will take place on September 21.
