Join the Lehman Center for American History, and Professor Michael Witgen, for a book talk and discussion with Ned Blackhawk about his new work, The Rediscovery of America: Native Peoples and the Unmaking of U.S. History. 


Ned Blackhawk (Western Shoshone) is the Howard R. Lamar Professor of History and American Studies at Yale University, where he is the faculty coordinator for the Yale Group for the Study of Native America. He is the author of Violence over the Land: Indians and Empires in the Early American West.

Michael Witgen is a professor in the Department of History and the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University, and he is a citizen of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. He specializes in Indigenous and Early North American history, comparative borderlands, and the history of the early American Republic. 


The Lehman Center for American History is a collaboration between the Rare Book & Manuscript Library and the Department of History, and is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the study and teaching of history at Columbia University.
