The Columbia Institute for Training Outreach and Community Health (InTOuCH) program invites applicants for its spring training program. The application deadline is February 10, 2023.
1. Community Health Worker Eligibility
- At least 18 years of age
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Strong ties to the community
- Have at least a high school diploma or GED, and/or several years of work experience
- No hearing, visual, or memory impairment
- Ability to attend all training sessions (3 times a week, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) for 8 weeks
- Ability to actively participate in classroom discussions and activities
- Successfully complete hands-on practical skill training(s)
- Successfully complete three screening events, post-graduation
2. Training and Graduation
Training Expectations
- 8-week training, 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday)
- Interactive training sessions by experts in different health topics
Upon graduation, CHW's will receive:
- Certificate of course completion
- BP machines & resources for BP Screening
As a certified CHW:
- Have an opportunity to influence health changes in the community
- Serve as an alumni speaker and share experiences with future training groups
