BRAINWASH Storytelling: Black Women, Trauma and Triumph is a partnership between the Zuckerman Institute and the Writers Guild of America East that unpacks the neuroscientific themes of Tamika R. Guishard’s latest feature-length script, entitled BRAINWASH.

This story of three Caribbean-American women navigating PTSD on the heels of a sister’s murder is our vehicle for urgently centering Black women’s mental health and actionable ways to fortify mind-body connections.

Join us on World Mental Health Day to explore our brain’s incredible capacity to adapt for healing in a community whose trauma has been historically and contemporarily dismissed.

We will be in conversation with scientists, public health advocates, media executives, and auteurs, and will also screen one of Tamika R. Guishard's short films, Jackie., that explores similar themes.
