The Rooftop Variables (RV) program pairs graduate students in the department with high school teachers involved in either astronomy classes or clubs. Four cohorts of teachers have participated to date, fourteen teachers total, working in schools in all five boroughs. In addition to individual school visits, RV has hosted training nights to keep teachers current on best practices for the telescopes and cameras provided to them, as well as an annual gathering of teachers and their students at Columbia to share class/club updates.
