Neighbors Newsletter Summer 2020

In this issue, we feature three doctors from Columbia University Irving Medical Center who've been working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, discussing the work they've been doing, how their lives and jobs have changed, and what they're doing to get through this time. We showcase the Entrepreneurial Design Thinking program which helps aspiring entrepreneurs from around New York City learn to create market-based solutions to social programs. We highlight Aury García, a Dyckman Institute Scholar and Washington Heights native who graduated from Columbia's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons with plans to specialize in family medicine. Recommendations on staying calm and resilient during the COVID-19 pandemic are shared by Judith Matloff at the Journalism School.

We detail the University's response to the pandemic, as well as sharing announcements about key personnel changes and campus construction. We also spotlight the work of Columbia Community Service grantee organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to these stories, we include a listing of services provided by Columbia University in the surrounding community and information about government representation for the local community.
