We invite you to a conversational introduction to "Voices of The Coast" via a virtual panel discussion and onlineexhibition preview
Moderated by artist Gadi Ramadhani, "Voices of the Coast: Virtual Discussion & Exhibition Preview" will unite the voices and coasts of visual artists and cultural commentators from Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, and the African Diaspora. The panelists are Esiri Erheriene-Essi, Azu Nwagbogu, Lady Skollie & Danielle Scott. This panel discussion serves as a precursor to a transcontinental exhibition that will take place later this year. The aim is to share ideas and expand on the curatorial abstract outlined below.
Centred by a principle of inclusion, the virtual discussion and exhibition preview will address the “myth of the monolith” that many African and African diasporic artists face. It will hold space for the artists to reimagine history, and lift up the words written by the late Toni Morrison, “Definitions belong to the definers, not the defined.”
