Navigating the Communication Storm around the COVID-19 pandemic
Just as a vaccine does not end pandemic risk, there is no magic bullet in addressing the “infodemic” of misinformation and noise that has surrounded the COVID-19 pandemic. We explore several efforts to help the public and policy makers navigate the extreme storm of information. We’ll talk with the two University of Washington professors behind the course CallingBullshit.org and leaders of the news-credibility news service TheFactual.com and an open COVID-19 “sentiment tracking” map run by Ravenpack, a company that normally crunches masses of data for investors, banks and the like.
Guests:
Armando Gonzalez, Ravenpack CEO
coronavirus.ravenpack.com/
Arjun Moorthy, CEO, TheFactual.com
Jevin D. West and Carl T. Bergstrom, professors behind the University of Washington course Calling Bullshit (which will be a book later this year)

Joining host Andy Revkin of Columbia University’s Earth Institute is Emily Bell, director of the Journalism School’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism.
