Social Impact LIVE: What Black History Month Means Today

February 9, 2021
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
Online

“Black History Month shouldn’t be treated as though it is somehow separate from our collective American history,” said President Barack Obama in a 2016 speech.

In this episode of Social Impact LIVE, host Richard Hara (bio) sits down with current MSW student and the first-year coordinator of the School’s Black Caucus Allana John-Charles (bio) to talk about what Black History Month means today, and what she hopes it will mean in future. They will discuss why it is just as important for white Americans to learn Black history, and how celebrating Black history all year long would contribute to the nation’s healing.
