Revisiting Citizen with Claudia Rankine

January 28, 2021
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Online

As part of the University-wide Addressing Racism collaboration with our colleagues at Teachers College and Columbia University, Barnard College presents Revisiting Citizen with Claudia Rankine.

This talk and discussion engages the MacArthur Award-winning writer in a conversation about her groundbreaking book Citizen: An American Lyric (2014) in 2021, in the wake of the Trump presidency, recent events in the Capitol, and the inauguration of a new President.  Claudia Rankine will read briefly from her book and then be in conversation with Monica L. Miller, Professor of Africana Studies and English at Barnard.  This webinar will be followed by a discussion of Citizen among participants.  This book club is co-sponsored by the offices of Barnard's Dean for Faculty Diversity and Development and the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Zoom links for the webinar and discussion will be provided upon registration.
