We are a youth-led group of organizations and individuals driven by a mission to provide NYC high school students from across the city an equal, no cost opportunity to discover how to get involved in youth-led and established advocacy organizations, community agencies and government entities.. Find out how you can Take The Next Step and turn your ideas into action!

Who We Are

Teens Take Charge is a student-led movement for educational equity in New York City.

The Center for Educational Equity (CEE) is a nonprofit policy and research center at Teachers College, Columbia University. CEE champions students’ right to a meaningful opportunity to graduate from high school prepared for college, careers, and civic participation.

The League of Women Voters of the City of New York is a non-partisan organization whose purpose is to promote informed and active citizen participation in government. They are committed to empowering citizens with the meaningful information needed to make sound decisions for our democracy.

XR Youth is the youth arm of XR US, a  decentralized climate justice movement organizing non-violent direct action worldwide.

NYCLU’s mission is to defend and promote the fundamental principles and values embodied in the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, and the New York Constitution. 

Columbia Neighbors is hub of news, resources, and more for our Neighbors in Upper Manhattan.

YVote’s mission is to spark a cross-partisan youth voting movement through which young people connect their passions and beliefs with how they can make a difference, at and beyond the ballot box.

Period NYC’s mission is to fight to end period poverty and period stigma through service, education, and advocacy.

NYC Youth Leadership Councils (YLCs) are a network of youth groups focused on policy, practice, and advocacy to make local change happen.  In all 5 boroughs, YLCs are creating a bolder, more just city by inspiring youth to shape policies, practices, and services affecting them and their communities. 

Girls for Gender Equity (GGE) is an intergenerational organization committed to the physical, psychological, social, and economic development of girls and women. Through education, organizing and physical fitness, GGE encourages communities to remove barriers and create opportunities for girls and women to live self-determined lives.

Young Invincibles’ mission is to amplify the voices of young adults in the political process and expand economic opportunity for our generation.

Generation Citizen (GC) works to ensure that every student in the United States receives an effective action civics education, which provides them with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in our democracy as active citizens.

Youth Over Guns (YOG), a youth-led advocacy group, works to raise awareness about gun violence that impacts communities of color and to empower youth to advocate for life-saving policies and programs.

WNET Youth Collective: WNET New York Public Media Created Youth Collective to amplify youth voice and provide a platform for young people to engage in the important work of building a more ethical world

PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs (SRL) is building the next generation of video journalists by connecting educators with an innovative video journalism curriculum and network of public broadcasting mentors to develop digital media, critical thinking, and communication skills while producing original news reports from a youth perspective.

Dominicanos USA (DUSA) is dedicated to mobilizing and empowering the Dominican-American community through civic, social, and economic engagement. DUSA uses cutting-edge technology and community-organizing strategies to mobilize the community and help them overcome barriers to full participation in American life. Its mission is fulfilled through voter registration and mobilization campaigns, citizenship drives, workforce development, and more recently the census. 

Treeage is a climate justice organization dedicated to advancing just and progressive climate policy in local and state Legislature in New York and New Jersey

Zero Hour's mission is to center the voices of diverse youth in the conversation around climate and environmental justice. Zero Hour is a youth-led movement creating entry points, training, and resources for new young activists and organizers (and adults who support our vision) wanting to take concrete action around climate change. Together, we are a movement of unstoppable youth organizing to protect our rights and access to the natural resources and a clean, safe, and healthy environment that will ensure a livable future where we not just survive, but flourish.
