Join WORLD Channel and Firelight Media for a screening of TWO DOLLARS AND A DREAM, and a thoughtful discussion with director Stanley Nelson and author A'Lelia Bundles about the real story and legacy of Madam C.J. Walker, the first female self-made millionaire in America. Followed by a live Q&A.
Bundles, Walker's great-great-granddaughter, is the author of the New York Times Notable Book, “On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C. J. Walker” and the non-fiction source for SELF MADE, the ‘inspired by’ limited Netflix series starring Emmy-nominated Octavia Spencer.
As the grandson of Freeman B. Ransom, Madam C.J. Walker's attorney and Walker company general manager, Nelson had access to original business records and former employees he interviewed during the 1980s. His 1987 documentary, TWO DOLLARS AND A DREAM, was the first film about Walker's life.
Award-winning journalist Tina Martin will host the virtual discussion.
