Manhattanville Spring 2019 Community Day

Columbia University's Manhattanville Campus will inaugurate the Spring season with several family-friendly events on April 13, 2019. These events are free and open to the public; registration is recommended for some of them.

Lenfest Center for the Arts
615 W. 129th St., New York, NY 10027

Mad Science Movie Day will be featuring two different film versions of the story of a scatterbrained scientist who invents flying rubber (or “flubber”) that can do magical things. Catch a screening of either The Absent-Minded Professor (1961) at noon or Flubber (1997) at 3:00 p.m. Registration recommended.

The School of the Arts presents a virtual reality (VR) experience with screenings of Australian filmmaker Lynette Wallworth’s Collisions and Awavena in the lobby of the Lenfest Center for the Arts from Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Jerome L. Greene Science Center

Saturday Science returns with a Mad Science theme featuring tools and technology in science.

Come and be curious. Hold a real brain, learn about the cells that are inside, create squishy brain cells that light up, and operate a laboratory-grade microscope and virtual reality devices at the Jerome L. Greene Science Center from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Wallach Art Gallery
615 W. 129th St., New York, NY 10027

Discover what it means to be an artist. Families will explore working with artist tools to design and decorate tote bags. Drop by and have fun with the Wallach outside The Small Square in front of the Lenfest Center for the Arts (rain location: The Forum), 1 to 4 p.m.

The Wellness Center
The Forum, 125th St. and Broadway

Slime Time - Learn about the science behind the wellness benefits of the popular gooey concoction. The activity will be held at The Forum Lobby from 1 to 4 p.m. Registration recommended.

Bonus:

In addition to these events, learn about job opportunities and other information at tables on the ground floor of the Forum featuring The New York Public Library, NYCID, and the Census2020. The Café, which serves coffee, tea, and pastries, will also be open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
