CCS Grantee Event: Learn to Sew with SoHarlem (Sewing Session 1)

November 5, 2019
5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Off-campus
The objective of our sewing class is to introduce the methods of tailoring required to custom make clothing. The curriculum includes a strong emphasis on machine safety and operation and hand sewing techniques, such as buttonholes, basting, over-casting, and cross-stitching. Students will be introduced to a range of textiles, from manmade to natural, and techniques which include pressing, thread marking, cutting, how to measure and pattern drafting. Henry works with each student based on their personal skill level and preferred pace. To accommodate one-on-one instruction, class sizes are limited to five students.

Note: Student will choose a garment of interest for their final project: Pants, Vests, Jacket, Skirt, Shirt, Dress, etc.

Sewing classes cost $650. This session of Learn to Sew will also meet on Saturdays from 2:30-5:30 pm from November 9 to November 30. Classes are held at SoHarlem, 1361 Amsterdam Ave, Suite 340.
