Mission
Behind the Book's mission is to develop engaged readers and writers in underserved NYC public schools by designing and delivering programs that are multi-disciplinary, culturally responsive, and promote deeper connections to books and their authors.
Since it's founding, BtB has engaged more than 15,000 students in 668 classrooms, and donated more than 50,000 books to students, classroom libraries, and the surrounding communities.
Honoring
BtB is thrilled to honor three authors who have inspired countless students in the classroom through BtB programs: Marina Budhos, Zetta Elliott, and Kam Mak.
