All of us who live and work in the neighborhoods of upper Manhattan benefit from the work of local organizations and volunteers in our community.
The cultural richness of Harlem, Washington Heights, and surrounding neighborhoods is an essential part of what makes Columbia a great place to work and study. But it's a two-way street. The University partners with many local organizations that help improve the quality of life in our community. Columbia provides funding and other resources for programs described in the pages that follow. But even more important, so many of our faculty, staff and students work alongside our neighbors to deliver services that make a difference to people in Upper Manhattan - from health care and education to job training and youth mentoring.
This guide contains information about many of the programs and services that Columbia and our community partners together provide to individuals and families, schools, and businesses in Upper Manhattan. Everyone is invited to learn more about these services, take advantage of them, and join with Columbia and our community partners in making sure that this becomes an even greater place to live and learn together.
