Sponsoring Athletic Clinics at Riverbank Summer Camp

Columbia's coaches know the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle, and the benefits of participating in team sports. During the summer of 2005, Columbia's coaching staff volunteered to host two days of athletic clinics at Riverbank Summer Camp. Track and field, soccer, and field hockey clinics were offered to the kids during the first day of camp. Volleyball, basketball, and football clinics were held in August.

The athletic clinics provided the children, ages 7 to 13, with an opportunity to learn a new skill and test their abilities. The coaches shared their expertise and enthusiasm for their sport through various demonstrations. The children enjoyed having a chance to ask questions and practice their new skills.

From early July to mid-August, more than 300 children attended Riverbank Summer Camp. Approximately 80 percent of the children attending the camp were from the neighboring communities. After the success of the 2005 athletic clinics, Columbia's coaching staff looks forward to strengthening their partnership with Riverbank State Park and providing more athletic clinics in the future.
